Seeing these magazines side by side at the newsagent certainly elicited a slight chuckle. Is this an example of industrial espionage? It's going to be interesting to see what will be on the respective covers next month!
Besides a laugh they did remind me of my own Cherry Chocolate Sponge Cake and so I decided that I might as well join in on the act.
The first of the cherries hit the market last week so there's no better time to indulge in this cake.
There's a couple of changes from the original, regular chicken eggs have replaced the duck eggs and I've topped the cake with a dark chocolate ganache - made by melting ½ cup dark chocolate with ¼ cup cream.
OOOH! I love the picture of the chocolate slowly dripping down (second picture). I can lick it off the screen! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love a bite of that!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeletePaz (drooling)
What size of chicken eggs, would the duck eggs be equivalent to? This is the kind of thing I would likely get wrong.
ReplyDeleteThis look absolutely divine!
ReplyDeleteThat explains why I had a feeling of deja vu when I saw the Good Food Mag this morning! V amusing!
ReplyDeleteI also spotted cherries on my shopping trip and was swithering over buying them - but went for the grapes instead as am so pleased to finally have Australian grapes in the shops!
Thanks Ning!
ReplyDeleteI'll try and save you a piece!
Thanks Paz!
Duck eggs are similar in size to chicken eggs, I use a larger sized chicken egg
Thanks MC!
Hi Johanna - the only reason I bought the Good Food mag was because of the cover, but maybe I've just fallen trap to a brilliant commercial move. It's good seeing all the stone fruit appearing again too!
Yum! That looks spectacular. :) You make me greatly regret that I'm looking at this cake and not eating it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Seamuffin - I wish I had some to share with you!
ReplyDeleteYour photos beat both magazine covers!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about that but I do know that mine is edible and not made of Styrofoam!
